Dr. Charity Foster McConnell joined Franklin Dermatology Group in August of 2001. She became the first full partner to join the founders of the practice, Drs. Dana and Paul Latour, in 2003. A native Tennessean, Dr. McConnell grew up in Lexington, a small town in western Tennessee. As an undergraduate, she attended Vanderbilt University, graduating in 1992 with a B.S. in Molecular Biology. She met her future husband, Bill McConnell, while in college at Vanderbilt and they married in 1995. She attended medical school at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine, graduating third in her class in 1996, and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. She was an internal medicine resident at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for two years from 1996-1998, at which point she realized that her true “calling” was dermatology. In order to realize that “calling”, she and her husband moved to Winston-Salem, North Carolina for her to receive her dermatology residency training at Wake Forest University School of Medicine (Bowman Gray Campus) from 1998-2001.
Dr. McConnell enjoys all aspects of dermatology, including medical, surgical and cosmetic dermatology. She prides herself on thorough, high-quality care for patients of all ages. In addition, her practice philosophy is to make every patient feel important and that their voices are being heard. She also enjoys being a member in several medical and professional organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Nashville Dermatology Society, Tennessee Women in Medicine, the American Medical Association, and the Tennessee Medical Association.
Dr. McConnell resides in Brentwood with her husband, Bill, and their son, Foster. Away from work, Dr. McConnell’s first priority has always been spending time with her family and friends. She also enjoys interior design and travel.
